Technical communicators need to take advantage of content reuse in order to save time, save money, and generate higher quality documentation. A successful content reuse implementation requires a well-planned, well thought out content reuse strategy and a technology that effectively supports this strategy.
Selecting the right technology isn't easy. There is no universal one-size-fits-all content reuse solution. There are countless vendor products, each differing in features, functionality, price, and complexity. With all these possibilities it's easy to get lost. However, by taking a well-planned and disciplined approach to evaluating these technologies, you can be sure to select the right solution for your organization.
This presentation outlines a practical approach for how to identify and evaluate content reuse technologies to ensure you select the one that best supports your content reuse strategy. In addition, this presentation will emphasize the importance of having a sound content strategy in place before you begin shopping for the right technology.
Bryan and Lisa will also provide supporting information about how to work with your company’s decision makers to move ideas and progress forward.

About Bryan Lynn
Bryan Lynn is co-founder and lead technologist with ThirtySix Software, a software solutions provider that specializes in delivering content management solutions on the Microsoft platform. ThirtySix Software, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, helps organizations to more efficiently manage their content by maximizing their existing investment in Microsoft technologies.
Before starting ThirtySix Software, Bryan spent nearly 10 years working in corporate IT environments designing, developing, and implementing content management solutions. Bryan has extensive experience working with structured and unstructured authoring solutions, and has a deep understanding of the pros and cons associated with deploying and authoring in both XML and non-XML environments. It's through this experience that gaps were identified in the content management market, which led to formation of ThirtySix Software and the release of their flagship product SmartDocs.
About Lisa Pietrangeli
Lisa Pietrangeli is a Managing Partner and Director of Client Solutions at ThirtySix Software. At ThirtySix, Lisa specializes in working with clients to develop customized content development strategies. Lisa brings over 11 years of experience to ThirtySix Software, having worked extensively with companies around the world, helping them to streamline their content development and localization processes.
Before joining ThirtySix Software, Lisa was Director of Global Client Solutions at Language Intelligence, where she worked with clients to develop internationalization strategies for all stages of the content development process, from authoring through to translation. Her extensive experience at Language Intelligence covers everything from project management, resource selection and management, to business development, localization consulting and managing the localization PM staff. Her experience, combined with her analytical skills, make Lisa an ideal partner with whom to evaluate content development processes and tailor solutions for organizations of all types and sizes.
In addition to her unique professional experiences, Lisa holds degrees in Art History, Spanish, Italian, and American Sign Language. Lisa has also spent time living and studying in Italy.

Although most of our members live and work in the metropolitan Rochester area, we are geographically diverse, with members living in several surrounding counties.
